Overview

Urine is a fluid which is extracted from the blood by a filtration process conducted by the two kidneys which between them process all of the blood in the body on a continuous basis.

The fluid thus gathered by the kidneys is then excreted by your kidneys.

Urine contains water and waste products such as urea which need to be expelled from your body. From the kidneys it passes down your ureters and into your bladder where it is stored until you urinate (have a pee). Your urine is then expelled from your body down your urethra.
