Overview

What should we Tell The Boss?

You are the best judge of this but after all your boss respected you enough to employ you so often the best course is to be absolutely straight and honest with the boss. You may wish to ask for a private meeting and request that he does not tell others at work, that is up to you.

Personal Experiences

Ahh...the boss...as I have said on many of the 'Personal Experience' pages the truth..Tell him/her the truth...Explain each stage as you are going through it (this can also help YOU to understand it all more clearly!)...The boss is a person, just like you, and they can be an excellent asset. In the case of Kevin, his boss has become our first port of call for emotional and practical support.(He arranged a lift for me when Kevin was in hospital recently and is in telephone contact at ANY time of day for either myself or Kevin). I understand that we are fortunate that Kevin's boss is in a position to offer us this support...A little give and take will help...DON'T offer to do things you aren't able to!...accept your limitations..

Another way to get your boss 'onside' is to point him/her to websites such as this!..they can then explore as much or as little of your illness as they wish.

  • Good Luck*
