Kidney Cancer Jean Murphy - press release
Jean Murphy, a 63-year-old terminally ill woman, will again take her fight to London to secure NHS funding for kidney cancer treatment.
Jean and her family along with patients from Rose Woodward's Kidney Cancer Support Network & others from the James Whale Fund for Kidney Cancer are planning a demonstration in London outside the NICE (National Institute for heath and Clinical Excellence) HQ at midday on the 27th August. Jean plans to deliver a letter of protest about their preliminary decision not to fund sutent and other kidney cancer drugs.
Jean is fortunate that an anonymous donor came forward with £10,000 to part-fund her treatment, but she is determined that the policy makers at NICE should reverse their decision to deny funding for life-saving and life-sustaining Kidney Cancer drugs that are routinely available across Europe and in the US.
Jean comments "This fight will continue until the people in this country are given treatment they need and are entitled to. The NHS is supposed to be free at the point of need and if i can play my part in reversing this terrible decision and restore the NHS reputation then it will have been worthwhile
