Nov-2007 - An Infection?
A few weeks ago I went for a pee and sensed that the smell was rather stronger than it should be. I went to my GP who asked me to supply a urine sample. The usual thing - First thing in the morning - mid flow - label the bottle and hand it in. A course of a broad spectrum antibiotic was prescribed and taken. I took another sample of urine in after I had taken the full course of antibiotics.
Some days later I was advised by my GP's office that the second sample was clear. I thought that would be end of story and carried on regardless.
C18-Nov-2007 - The Doctor Called!
A few days later I received a telephone call from my GP who said that she was not happy that my 1st sample of urine indicated that I had a bladder infection. She was never happy about this in men. She asked me to attend a urology clinic at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
23-Nov-2007 - Urology Clinic
On 23rd November I went to see Mr Elves. He asked me questions about blood in my urine - No. Pain - No. Did I have trouble passing urine - No. Did I have trouble with dribbling after I have finished - No etc etc - No to all. He examined my prostate and pronounced it to be 'quite small'. He said that it was better to err on the side of caution and asked me to attend his clinic for a cystoscopy.
My wife and I are due to go away shortly after Christmas so my wife rang the hospital to ask when I would be called in. They were extremely helpful and said I could have a cancellation.
